Kris Heikkila

In 2005, I launched a grooming career with an apprenticeship at Champion Kennels in Sterling, Massachusetts.  My year apprenticeship advanced me to grooming manager for the next 3 years. During this time, I became an ABKA Certified Pet Care Technician, and also certified in canine first aid and CPR by the American Red Cross.

My next move in late 2009 was to help launch All the Do Dog Day, a daycare and grooming shop in Shrewsbury, Massachusetts, where I was general manager and head groomer.

Armed with this experience, in 2013 I started my career as a self employed groomer with KT’s Mobile Grooming and also working at Dara’s Paw Spaw. While at Dara’s I have enjoyed sharing my knowledge and and experience with students from the local high school in their internship program.

It is very important to me that I stay up to date with the current trends and products in the industry, and pass this knowledge on. Because of this, I have invested a great deal of time into continuing my education by attending professional grooming seminars and expos. A large part of my focus has been the study of dog behavior and body language. These seminars have been with industry leaders, Susan Bulanda, Chris Murphy, Susan Briggs, and Robin Bennett.

I have also attended grooming seminars with industry leaders Jodi Murpy, Sue Zecco, Jay Scruggs and Tip Campbell. As well as business seminars with Tip Campbell and Ellen Erlich. To keep my creative side inspired I attended creative grooming seminars with Dawn Omboy, Lori Craig and Angela Kumpe.

I am very excited by this next step in my career! Monadnock Canine Center has been a dream of mine and I am thrilled to see it finally come true!

As life long animal lover and husband, Kris entered the world of dog care with wife Katie. He has been instumental in the build out and helps out with the dogs!
